The Camera Eye¹ – Expect The Unexpected

On a recent day spent networking in Westminster[1], whilst sipping a nice cup of Earl Grey, I looked up and spotted something rather unexpected. And more than a little bit scary.

Beautiful building. But do you see it?

I really enjoy a good bit of classic architecture, so I’m probably more likely than most to look up high when in a city. But I wonder how many people have noticed this, or looked closely at it?

Let’s look closer…

See it now?

“In 2009, SFX named the climax of “Blink” with the Weeping Angels advancing on Sally and Larry the scariest moment in Doctor Who’s history. They also listed the Angels in their list of favourite things of the revival of Doctor Who, writing, “Scariest. Monsters. Ever.” ”[2]

Now can you see what I’m talking about?

Luckily my phone camera has a 5x optical zoom so let’s look closer…

Be Afraid 😱

Watching me drink my tea. How very dare it.

Don’t turn your back, don’t look away, and don’t blink. Good luck.”

I checked on the Google Maps satellite images: nothing there.

So: am I being stalked by supernatural statues, or is something else weird going on here? 🤔

“Wide angle watcher on life’s ancient tales
Steeped in the history of London
Green and grey washes in a wispy white veil
Mist in the streets of Westminster
Wistful and weathered, the pride still prevails
Alive in the streets of the city”
